Subsidized Temporary Employment Program

The Subsidized Temporary Employment Program (STEP) might interest you.
|
|
How does the program work?
STEP helps businesses acquire new talent for a fraction of the cost. We subsidize 80% of the salary of eligible talent in job-training positions.
|
|
Is STEP immediately available?
No. We are in the process of securing the appropriate fund for this program. We believe it is very likely that we will receive the money, but at the time of this release it was not confirmed. All applicants will be contacted by January 15, 2010, with a status update.
Talent will be immediately available for hire once the funds are available.

What are the terms and conditions?
Nothing stringent – there are only a few things that you should be aware of:

Talent must meet the eligibility criteria:
(a) resident of Volusia or Flagler County
(b) currently unemployed*
(c) earned low income in the last 6 months
(d) is a parent with children under 18 years old
|
| 2. |
Talent will be paid the same wage as respective counterparts or median salary of equivalent position in the region.
|
| 3. |
Jobs must be full time (30 to 40 hours). Subsidy will cover up to 40 hours per week.
|
| 4. |
Subsidy will last a maximum of three months. A commitment of intent to maintain employment by the employer is required.
|
| 5. |
Program will end on September 30, 2010. |

So how can you participate?
Very simple. You need to send us the completed application, job descriptions, and wage information.
There are only 250 subsidies available, for a total of 50 businesses. So send your application as soon as possible!
