Committee Structure
To serve a vast spectrum of resident career development and business community needs, the CBE has designated seven committees to oversee and provide guidance in the implementation of workforce development strategies.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee exercises in the intervals between meetings of the board, all of the powers that may legally be delegated in the management of the affairs of the organization.

Workforce System Improvement Committee

Preserves and enriches an accountable workforce investment system by defining and evaluating standards of success. The Workforce System Improvement Committee will promote the development of a high-quality, effective, and accountable workforce development system to meet the changing needs of the community by ensuring sound evaluation of the products, services, and programs of the local Workforce Investment System.

Business Services Committee
Mr. Rick Dawson, Chair |
Promotes stability and growth for Flagler and Volusia County businesses by providing a link between employment and training needs of local businesses and workforce development programs. The committee will link industry to the design and ownership of workforce programs and services, and identify occupations critical to business expansion, retention and recruitment activities. The Business Services Committee explores ways in which the CBE can help businesses solve human resource, employment and training challenges.

Committee For Youthful Independence
Mr. Joe Brumenschenkel, Chair

Promotes successful entry into the workforce, through education and workforce experience, that lead to self-sufficiency and career advancement for youth. Enlists business, education and community support for students to achieve long-term career goals ensuring young people have the skills required to succeed in the workplace. The committee will make recommendations on implementing programs and expending funds in support of program goals.

Workforce Services Council

Develops methods that promote the ability of adult workers to succeed in the workforce and to align education and training programs with high-paying, high-demand occupations by analyzing the local job market. The Committee will promote a number of programs with the primary initiative of redirection, retention and reliance.

Communications
Committee
Dr. D. Kent Sharples, Chair |
Determines methods to inform the public about the Workforce Development Board Center for Business Excellence, including the elected officials, the business community, community-based organizations, etc. Establishes methods of communicating with and educating fellow Board members regarding programs, legislation and Board responsibilities.

Finance Committee
Mr. John Wanamaker,
Chair |
Reviews and recommends budget allocations to the Executive Committee and Board. Oversees various expenditures.
